A once-in-a-generation talent — a vocalist, instrumentalist, and storyteller, Nathanael’s artistry bridges faith, culture, and sound. At just 18, the 2023 Apollo Theatre “Child Star of Tomorrow” has already built a résumé that reads like a dream and a destiny unfolding in real time.
Music found Nathanael early. He began singing and composing at four years old and picked up the violin by seven. What started as a childhood curiosity has since evolved into a mission — to use music as a vessel for beauty, truth, and purpose.
Nathanael studied vocal music at the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts, where he has performed with industry greats including Grammy-nominated Sun Ra Arkestra, bassist Gerald Veasley, and drummer Lil John Roberts. He also studied voice and piano at Settlement Music School, expanding his range from jazz to classical and beyond.
But Nathanael’s artistry is not confined to one genre — or even one discipline. He sings with the Worship Team at New Covenant Church of Philadelphia, writes poetry and plays, designs garments, and advocates for young people to express their faith and creativity without fear. A trained gymnast and 2022 National High Bar and Parallel Bar Champion, Nathanael embodies the discipline, grace, and precision that define both athletic and artistic excellence.
Affectionately called “The Renaissance Man,” Nathanael’s name literally means A Gift from God — and his gifts continue to multiply. His performances have graced the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, City Winery, and South Jazz Kitchen. After earning top honors at The Apollo’s Grand Finale in 2023, he was crowned the Apollo’s Child Star of Tomorrow — a title that ignited a wave of local and national media attention, including appearances on CBS3 and Fox29.
In 2024, Nathanael returned to the Kimmel Center to perform in Dr. Donald Dumpson’s renowned Soulful Christmas. He also performed at the historic celebration honoring Philadelphia’s first female mayor, the Honorable Cherelle Parker, at The Met Philadelphia. Each appearance reinforces what his mentors and fans already know: Nathanael doesn’t just sing — he commands presence, offering audiences a glimpse of divine alignment through artistry.
A recent YoungArts Scholar with Distinction, selected from more than 11,000 applicants, Nathanael performed at the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida. Nathanael attends Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship. His goal is simple but powerful: to inspire, to uplift, and to lead by example.
With a voice that transcends genre and a spirit grounded in faith, Nathanael is not just preparing for the world stage — he’s already stepping onto it.
